Hawthorn House
This rich combination of timber and rammed earth, contrasted with steel, aluminium and glass, creates a strong presence above the Yarra. Designed to be single level living for a couple, with further accommodation upstairs for their visiting family, a major consideration was creating a close relationship between the indoors and the outdoors. Timber floors and marble forms enhance the internal richness while views to the Yarra are protected from the west by aluminium blinds, adding to the overall aesthetic.
